We get it – juggling life as an adult is hard. Alongside your work and family commitments you need to somehow find the time (and energy) to train.

You know you need to train strategically, you’re just not sure how. LabCats was initially born in response to the question:

LabCats has been designed to build the mental skills and components needed to race and perform under pressure. Every session has been designed to develop some sort of race or erg test mental skill, by creating race type situations.

Most other programs crudely assume that harder work and more intensity is the way to get better. Science has shown that each load creates a different physiological response in your body, and each person responds differently to those loads.

With the LabCats program we measure both your exercise load and your response to it – so we can make a custom training program based on your own physiology.

What to expect as a LabCat athlete.

  1. Discovery phase (1 week)
    1. First up, we’ll ask you to do an erg test – it’s is not supposed to be a personal best type test, it is designed to identify your capabilities right now.
    2. Once you’ve shared your results in our CrewLAB app, our Head Coach will reach out for a chat to discuss your goals and expectations.
  2. Training phase (1-4 months)
    1. There are x3 training sessions every week – where each session has been designed to test your physiology.
    2. Our sessions are primarily focused on making sure you get high intensity sessions done correctly each week. So if you have a regatta on the weekend, we suggest skipping the third LabCats session. You’re welcome to add extra low intensity training as you need. Recovery is the key.
    3. Adding extra steady state sessions is also beneficial to build your endurance abilities. We suggest doing this as a long warm up or cool down around your LabCat sessions, or even do a low intensity session on other non-LabCat days.
    4. Throughout the training phase you’ll receive weekly check-ins with the Head Coach.
